Are you a new ham? Are you an Elmer? Regardless of your experience, you are invited to join the RST New Ham Net!
Day: Thursdays
Time: 8:00 pm Arizona Time
Frequency: N7HND repeater on 147.000 (output), 147.600 (input)
CTCSS: 110.9 Hz on input
Repeater: WN7BSA near Saguaro National Park East
Participants: Any licensed ham operator
We have been running this Net weekly on Thursdays, with a focus on new Hams since Sept 14, 2023, and have been averaging 5-7 check-ins, with lively conversations about equipment, operating practices, and memorable experiences. Each week has seen new hams making their first 2m contact, and the net fulfills the purpose of “providing an open and encouraging opportunity for new ham operators to try out getting on the air.”
If you are a member of RST, you can also volunteer to join the control operator rotation. A sample script is provided and provides RST members a chance to experience running a Net. If you would like to join the rotation, or even just give it a try once, contact Ken, N7NBV or Joe, K3TYE to schedule a date for being the “RST New Ham Net” Control Operator.
