TITAN MISSILE MUSEUM ON THE AIR

Bringing History and Amateur Radio Together

Join the Radio Society of Tucson (RST) on Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM MST, for another exciting amateur radio special event at the historic Titan Missile Museum in Sahuarita, Arizona.

This unique event brings together Cold War history, radio communications technology, and the amateur radio community at one of Southern Arizona’s most fascinating historical landmarks.

Operating from a Historic Cold War Communications Site

One of the highlights of the Titan Missile Museum is its remarkable Collins Radio HF discage antenna, commonly referred to as the Titan discone. Standing approximately 80 feet tall, this antenna was originally part of the Titan II missile complex’s communications system.

More than six decades after its installation, the antenna remains operational and available for amateur radio use—a remarkable connection between historical military communications technology and today’s amateur radio community.

During this special event, RST operators will use the callsign K7T to make contacts with amateur radio operators across the United States and potentially around the world.

Four Radio Stations Operating Simultaneously

This year’s event will feature four amateur radio stations operating simultaneously, giving RST members and visitors an opportunity to experience multiple amateur radio operations taking place at the same time.

The four HF radio stations will use specialized antenna-sharing equipment to support simultaneous operation across multiple bands and modes.

This multi-station setup provides an excellent opportunity for RST members to gain hands-on operating experience, learn about different amateur radio techniques, and participate in a special event from a historically significant location.

Whether you’re an experienced amateur radio operator, newly licensed, or simply interested in radio communications, we encourage you to come out and join us.

Visitors can meet RST members, learn about amateur radio, and see how radio technology continues to connect people around the world.
