ARRL representatives Rick Paquette W7RAP and John Kitchens NS6X where very busy during the hamfest as well as the Amateur Radio Council of Arizona’s Charlie Zurenko N2TFS. It was a good idea placing ARRL and ARCA near the breakfast snack area.
Cameron KK7OLN was honored later in the hamfest by being presented ARCA’s “Young Ham of the Year” award. Joe K3TYE and ARCA representative Charlie Zurenko N2TFS presented the award.
Usually hamfest people go home early but many stayed on right to the end for the raffle prizes. Someone who is known very well by the EAARS community, Dick W0PZD bought his own tailgating spot right in the middle of the action. We do not know if Dick was selling anything or not, but he sure attracted a lot of attention with folks stopping by just to talk. Later Dick won a “major award”, a Goal Zero Yeti 1000X portable power station. We’ll be saving Dick a spot at our next hamfest in the spring.
Logan Thompson, young son of Scoutmaster Dusten Thompson N7DWT, did the honors at the raffle drawing by pulling all the winning tickets. All the winners were from the Greater Tucson area. Yeah! The RST hamfest committee does not need to ship any prizes this year.
73 to all, and thank you for attending the RST autumn hamfest, Arizona’s friendliest hamfest.
