Hi RST members,
Our next monthly meeting is this coming Tuesday, September 9th. Kirk W0PSN, our Days in the Park chairman, is experimenting with various forms of digital radio, mostly on VHF. I know he has been working with C4FM (Yaesu Fusion), DMR, and other digital formats. There has been a significant interest in this topic at the “Days in the Park” events. This coming Tuesday, Kirk will be presenting on what he calls a “Ten-thousand Foot Overview of Digital FM Radio” or the digital formats one would find on VHF/UHF and the local repeaters.
Now, if we wish to expand on this topic, that is . . . if we wish to have an in-person, hands-on class on this topic, I do have classroom space available on some Monday evenings at Immanuel Presbyterian on 22nd Street. Troop 157 Scouts meet in one-half of the building; we can meet in the other half. I am suggesting something like bring in your hot-spot device, bring in your DSTAR or DMR radio, and let’s get it working. Interest anyone? Let me know at the Tuesday meeting or via email.
We meet at the 22nd Street Golden Corral. Meet, greet, and eat starting at 6PM with presentation starting around 7 PM.
