The Amateur Radio Council of Arizona (ARCA) is an ARRL-affiliated “club of clubs” of which RST is a member. ARCA held a meeting on April 19, and our ARCA representatives David Bjorgaard K7ACE and Chris Volkman KK7FHO attended. This is the report from David, adapted from his original email:

I attended the 11:00 am ARCA meeting today virtually. Chris, who is now our alternate delegate also attended virtually; he will ensure RST always has at least one delegate in attendance in the future. ARCA in-person meeting was held in Phoenix and the Red Cross. I have attached the agenda that was covered in today’s meeting.

The U of A Grant Request passed for $500 toward upgrading their three computers that run equipment at the club station.

The other Grant Request was tabled for next meeting, given lack of sufficient information in the grant request.

As noted, ARCA is still waiting for nominations for Ham of the Year and Young Ham of the Year. I think someone in RST is working on getting nominations in before the deadline.

ARCA also has scholarship money that is sitting there because no one is applying. The ARCA Board urged delegates to let people know to apply.

Nominations for officers for 2025-2026 also took place. Elections by the Delegates for new officers will be at the Flagstaff Hamfest, June 14, 2025. Two people were nominated for 2nd Vice Chair, so there will be a run-off election for that office. Nominations for the other officers consisted of only one for each. It is my understanding that the nominated Chair, nominated 1st Vice Chair, and nominated Secretary will be elected unopposed on June 14, 2025. Lee Isle from Sierra Vista has been a mainstay from southern Arizona on the ARCA Board for many years but needs a break. I was asked and agreed to take the nomination for Secretary, so that we will continue to have an ARCA Board member from southern Arizona.
