The general location of Ken’s place is about two miles east of Houghton just south of Speedway. If you wish to camp for the weekend, Ken’s corral is a really nice place. It is large enough to support many RV’s, campers and trailers. Rest rooms are available in Ken’s guest house. When you turn into 855 N Camino Cordon, bear right and continue on the road to the north of Ken’s house. You will pass the house on the left and the guest house on the right and then see his storage shed and the corral. The corral gate is a bit narrow so go slow and watch your sides.

The ARRL 10 Meter Contest is a great training contest. We don’t usually operate through the night because the band closes down around 9:00pm. But, during the daylight hours it can get “hot and heavy” all contacts count, i.e. work anyone in the US or any country with SSB or CW or both. We hope to work about 750 contacts in 45 states and possibly 75 countries. A great number of these contacts will be made in the Technician frequency range of 28.300 to 28.500 mhz.

Currently we plan to run one station with high power (500 watts). The rig will likely be and Elecraft K3 or Yaesu FT-991a either being capable of driving an Elecraft KPA-500 amp. Although earphones, microphones and iambic paddles will be supplied, feel free to bring your own accessories. N3FJP logging software will be used with rig control enabled. Computer keying with N3FJP will also be available.

I plan to arrive at the corral around noon on FRIDAY THE 13th (ha) to start set-up. Setup should be very quick with only one yagi to erect, (unless I forget the elements like I did last year). There will be no pressure to operate and if you just would like to come out enjoy some HAM company, that would be great. Please bring your own lawn chair, refreshments and snacks.

I hope to see you there!
